Vintage Chinese Glazed Ceramic Elephant Garden Stool

Vintage Chinese glazed ceramic elephant garden stool or plant stand, beautifully decorated in a warm ivory glaze with hand-painted pink/red, black and muted polychrome detailing. The elephant is depicted in ceremonial trappings with an ornate saddle blanket centered by a large Shou (longevity) symbol, surrounded by traditional floral and auspicious motifs. The raised trunk and sculptural detailing give the piece wonderful character.

A striking decorative accent that works beautifully as a garden stool, side table, plant stand, or sculptural object. Mid-to-late 20th century.
